Minister Gusmão has participated in a Conference on The Challenges of Peacebuilidng and Statebuilding in Conflict-Affected States at the University of Coimbra in Portugal.

The Minister, speaking in Portuguese, spoke about the way that the international community could better help g7+ countries in their peacebuilding and statebuilding journeys.

Gusmão said that there was a shared responsibility "Yes we are victims of our own problems, but we are also victims of decision makers of big powers” he explained.

Other officials from g7+ countries spoke at the meeting including representatives of Afghanistan, Burundi, Central African Republic, Sierra Leone and South Sudan.

During the Conference a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the University of Coimbra and the g7+.
